Overview

This page contains instructions for and provides access to cumulative PTF packages for our products. In addition, it lists IBM®  PTFs known to be relevant to our products.

Instructions

You install these cumulative PTF packages from your PC using FTP. Download the self extracting zip file for your product and release by right clicking the .exe and selecting "Save Link As…" (Firefox) or "Save Target As…" (Internet Explorer). Save the .exe into a temporary directory. Change to that directory. Unzip the file by double clicking it from Explorer or by choosing Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt, changing to the temporary directory and typing the file name. Then, see the "readme" file for step by step installation instructions. Our PTFs do not require that your system be in a restricted state to apply them and do not require that i5/OS be restarted. Jobs that are using the software will not see the effects of the changes until they are ended and restarted.

If you are not sure which release of a product you have, run the Display Program Temporary Fix (DSPPTF) command. For example, run DSPPTF 2A55RDA to determine which Report Designer release is installed. The fifth line of the display shows the "Release of base option" which is your release. PTF packages are specific to a release and can not change the release of a product. To upgrade to a newer release, you must download and install it.

LicPgm PTF Description
V6R1M0 5722TC1 n/a We have received reports of SMTP start failures caused by the existence of *DTAARA QUSRSYS/QTMSCLEAN which ordinarily is created to prompt a cleanup. If SMTP fails to start, delete this data area. The data area and its usage are described in IBM's Software Technical Document Number 12751331.

II13869 The following is from informational APAR II13869 5722SS100 5722TC100 r530: V5R3 has a new IFS directory attribute "Restricted rename and unlink". If this is set to *YES QMSF can fail with TCP5104 Integrated File System file unlink failed" for /tmp on QtmmSendMail users. The default value for the new attribute is *NO on the CRTDIR (MD) command. However, we set the attribute for *YES when we have to create it, such as on scratch installs or some other instance where the directory has been deleted. Slip installs should not be affected, provided slipping the GA resave. Once the attribute is set, it will remain set. This is compatible with UNIX implementations and is documented in the Memo-To-Users If the attribute is set to *YES and is causing QMSF to fail, change it to *NO using the CHGATR command:

CHGATR OBJ('/tmp') ATR(*RSTDRNMUNL) VALUE(*NO)

n/a Several customers have encountered problems writing files to the QNTC file system after upgrading i5/OS to V5R1M0. When the error is present, the message IFS1001 "Error 0 opening IFS object." is generated. IBM's® explanation and solution are:

Release 5.10 added the function of NetServer to have the codepage default to 0. This allows NetServer to interpret the correct codepage for transferring files. This has had a negative impact on QNTC since it does not handle the 0 codepage. A workaround has been to change the NetServer properties through OpsNav. Go to the Advance tab of NetServer properties. Press the Next Start button. Now you should be able to change the codepage to 1252. Unfortunately since QNTC is part of the IFS there is no way to restart QNTC without performing a complete IPL of the System i. Once the NetServer properties are changed you will need to IPL so QNTC can be loaded with the new changes.
